Drivers on the M25 clockwise are experiencing severe disruption following a collision involving a recreational vehicle (RV) that has led to the closure of three lanes between Junction 5 (Sevenoaks) and Junction 6 (Godstone) in Surrey.
According to National Highways: South-East, lanes 1, 2, and 3 (of 4) are currently blocked as emergency crews and traffic officers respond to the scene. Only one lane remains open, resulting in significant congestion and slow-moving traffic in the area.
Motorists are facing delays of more than 90 minutes, with traffic backing up for approximately seven miles on the approach to the incident. The disruption has caused widespread delays for commuters and long-distance travelers using one of the busiest motorway sections in the region.
Authorities confirmed that the collision involved an RV, though further details regarding the circumstances of the crash have not yet been released. Emergency services remain at the scene, and the incident is still considered active as recovery and investigation work continues.
Traffic analysts have indicated that normal conditions are not expected to resume until approximately between 3:15pm and 3:30pm, although this may change depending on how quickly the scene can be cleared and all lanes reopened.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area if possible, follow diversion routes, and allow extra travel time if their journey is essential. Highways officials continue to monitor the situation and will provide further updates as the incident develops.
The M25 remains heavily affected, and congestion is expected to persist until full clearance operations are completed.
