Pittsburgh Westinghouse Academy announced Dr. Hall’s passing with a heartfelt message, remembering him as a man whose “legacy of dedication, compassion, and service touched countless lives.” The statement noted that he fought a courageous battle and urged the community to keep his loved ones in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Dr. Hall served as the athletic director at Pittsburgh Westinghouse Academy and as a counselor within Pittsburgh Public Schools. He also recently began serving on the North Hills School Board after being seated in the fall, embracing the opportunity to advocate for students and strengthen educational opportunities throughout the district.
North Hills School Board President Allison Mathis described him as “a true public servant whose opportunity to serve was tragically cut short.” She praised his unwavering commitment to students, noting his passion for equity and his belief that every child deserved to feel seen, valued, and supported.
In 2021, Dr. Hall was recognized as one of Pittsburgh Magazine’s 40 Under 40. In an interview at the time, he spoke candidly about overcoming homelessness at the age of 18 and credited the support of his wife and mentor, Steven Singleton, for helping him persevere. His personal journey of resilience inspired his lifelong commitment to helping young people navigate their own challenges.
